What is HIFU?

HIFU stands for High Intensity Frequency Ultrasound.

Using a specialised device, ultrasound causes inflammation in the skin in a controlled trauma response. It delivers focal Thermal Coagulation Points (TCPs) below the skins surface and targets foundational layers (SMAS) without affecting surrounding tissue. Present collagen contracts immediately and lasts 72 hours approx, so our goals can be seen immediately.

White blood cells flood the area to assess for damage and fibroblasts are stimulated (they produce new collagen and elastin). From day 3 to week 6 new collagen is being formed, fibroblast synthesis and formation of glycosaminoglycan is occurring and at its peak around day 28, resulting in a noticeable increase in dermal thickness. Then remodelling can be felt and seen from week 6 to week 12 and continues for up to a year. Thermal coagulation zones are now completely healed with new collagen 10-12 weeks post treatment and these mature overtime and increase in tensile strength.

Results last 12-18 months on average and get better with time.

HIFU can also be used for fat cavitation or breaking fat bonds.

The intense ultrasound energy is used to target and destroy fat cells in areas like the abdomen. The heat from the ultrasound energy causes the fat cells to break down and be naturally cleared from the body over time.

The face ages from the inside out.

Radio Frequency works from the outside in along with IPL laser rejuvenation and carbon laser facial treatments.

HIFU works from the inside out. Optimal results are achieved with a combination treatment plan for each target area.

Fat Cavitation and RF- 2 to 4 week intervals

Injectables and RF- 2-4 weeks post treatment.

There is no downtime-simply avoid activities involving excess heating of skin. Mild warmth and redness can last 1-2 hours. Stay hydrated to maximise our lymphatic systems flushing ability.
